LAMBRETTA The Jet 200 is basically an SX200 with some small changes. Early models had SX panels, floor runners and typical Italian style air boxes. Later models had different side panels similar to GP type bikes, floor mats instead of runners and a different air filter arrangement visible by intake fins on the toolbox door as shown below. Only very early models were made with an internal disk brake like the Italian SX200s. Bikes after 1982 had 3 lights added to the headset; a green for neutral, orange for low beam, and red for high beam. Frame and engine numbers start with the SX200 prefix and were usually the same number on the frame and engine.
Lambrettas were made in Spain by Eibar. The main difference between Italian Li 125 series IIs and the Spanish ones was that the ones made in Spain had a front mudguard that turned with the front wheel and a slightly different horncasting. Engines are typically like Li 150 Series I Italian Lambrettas. If you have been brought here by the serial number search and you know your machine is Italian please let me know. Other differences include the speedometer, headlight glass, and badges.
VESPA 160 GT,Definitely a weird one - electronic ignition similar to Serveta Lambrettas, but still piston ported. The body is basically a Sprint but the engine is a weird hybrid of old and new technology. Thanks to Manuel for the images (click on them to get a bigger view). There appear to be 3 versions of this bike: 1969-1973 was simply called the MotoVespa 160, and was available only in blue and had Vespa Sprint style aluminum trim on the mudguard and side panels. 1973 - 1979 MotoVespa GT160 was available in many colors and didn't have the aluminum trim pieces like the previous models and had "electronic: stickers similar to a Vespa Rally 200. 1974 MotoVespa GTi160 was the same as previous models but had handlebar end mounted indicators (the "i" came from the Spanish word for indicators/blinkers "intermitente") and the legshield script was made from plastic instead of metal like the other models.
